Seven steps from first enquiry to cleaning handover

Post-fire cleaning works best when permissions, material choices, and responsibilities are clear before treatment starts. This process explains how Cleanology Qatar approaches a suitable enquiry. The exact sequence depends on the site and agreed scope; it is not a fixed timetable or an assurance that every property or item can be accepted for cleaning. Industrial enquiries also require explicit confirmation of the necessary capabilities.

01 / OUR CLEANING PROCESS

1. Assessment, scope, and quotation

Safe, authorized access is a prerequisite for assessment. We review visible soot and smoke residues, accessible affected areas, retained materials, existing damage, and practical access restrictions. Suitable trial areas may help distinguish removable deposits from staining or heat alteration. The proposed scope and quotation identify included surfaces, selected contents, limitations, and dependencies on other contractors.

Assessment does not establish structural or electrical safety, fire compliance, or occupation fitness. It is not an intrusive investigation, laboratory test, insurance loss assessment, or building survey. Suspected asbestos, chemicals, or unstable structures require qualified specialists. Do not enter restricted property or approach dangerous materials to obtain photographs. Industrial work requires confirmed capabilities and authorized safe site conditions.

02 / OUR CLEANING PROCESS

2. Preparation and protection

Before cleaning, we plan appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), suitable tools, and a working sequence for the accepted tasks and site conditions. Unaffected areas, sensitive materials, and movement routes need protection appropriate to the work. Preparation also considers building permissions, access arrangements, and the timing of other contractors so cleaning does not unnecessarily spread residues or precede planned removal work.

Selected contents and their handling arrangements are agreed with the owner or authorized representative. Porous or heat-damaged items may require replacement or specialist advice; retention and disposal decisions need authorization. PPE and preparation do not make an unsafe site acceptable or override restrictions. If hazards or access conditions cannot be resolved appropriately, cleaning must not proceed.

03 / OUR CLEANING PROCESS

3. Controlled loose soot and ash removal

Accessible loose soot and ash within the agreed scope are addressed using controlled methods suitable for the deposit and substrate. Where appropriate, dry removal comes before wet cleaning to reduce smearing and unnecessary moisture contact. The approach is not to wash everything: fragile coatings, porous finishes, and damaged materials may need a different decision or no treatment pending specialist advice.

Removal is limited to suitable accessible deposits, not demolition, hazardous-material handling, or an assumed clearance of all fire debris. We avoid carrying residues into protected spaces. If unexpected materials, hazards, or surface behavior become apparent, the task and scope need review rather than an automatic extension of the same method.

04 / OUR CLEANING PROCESS

4. Material-suitable smoke residue cleaning

Remaining smoke residues are cleaned from suitable accessible walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, cabinets, fixtures, furniture, and selected contents where included in the quotation. Each material and its condition guide product choice, moisture use, and technique. Trial results help identify sensitive finishes rather than treating every surface as equally tolerant of chemicals or abrasion.

Listing a room does not automatically include every cabinet interior, concealed void, high feature, or equipment internal. Cleaning cannot reverse charring, warping, heat distortion, damaged coatings, or all absorbed staining. Exterior cleaning of appliances or electrical items does not establish safe operation. Unsuitable or nonrecoverable materials may need replacement or another qualified specialist.

05 / OUR CLEANING PROCESS

5. Source-focused odor reduction

Odor reduction begins with removal of affected sources and appropriate cleaning of remaining residues. Suitable products and any supplementary procedures must be appropriate to the materials, confirmed scope, and site conditions. Ventilation may support the process where safe and authorized; it does not replace source removal or establish that the air is safe.

Fragrance or fogging alone is not a substitute for removing contamination, and no permanent odor elimination guarantee is offered. Retained porous materials, concealed deposits, or inaccessible sources can continue to contribute smell. Further work may require material replacement or a qualified specialist rather than repeated surface treatment. Odor observations are not air-quality testing or occupation clearance.

06 / OUR CLEANING PROCESS

6. Final detailing within the quotation

Final detailing addresses agreed accessible edges, ledges, handles, fittings, and other included features after the main residue cleaning stages. We check for removable traces within the accepted scope and give attention to areas where handling or the cleaning sequence may have left localized residues. The exact detailing tasks depend on the quotation and material suitability.

This stage is not an unlimited whole-property deep clean or a promise to eliminate permanent marks. Additional rooms, newly exposed surfaces, concealed spaces, or cleaning after later repair work require separate agreement where not already included. Remaining staining, damaged finishes, and inaccessible deposits should be identified for review rather than treated with increasingly aggressive methods.

07 / OUR CLEANING PROCESS

7. Scope review, recommendations, and handover

The handover discussion compares completed cleaning with the accepted scope and reviews remaining limitations, staining, inaccessible areas, and dependencies. Recommendations may include replacement of unsuitable retained materials, advice from another qualified specialist, or further separately agreed cleaning. Raise any concern against the quotation so the next action can be considered without assuming unlimited restoration is included.

Unless separately quoted and confirmed, exclusions remain structural repairs, reconstruction, repainting, electrical and plumbing work, engineering, hazardous materials, AC ducts, laboratory tests, insurance loss assessment, and fire certification. Cleaning completion is not a safety certification, electrical clearance, structural approval, insurance decision, or permission to occupy or reopen. Those decisions remain with the appropriate responsible and qualified parties.

CLEAR ANSWERS. INFORMED DECISIONS.

Questions before
the cleaning starts.

Practical guidance for property owners, tenants and facilities teams in Qatar.

Can you quote from photographs alone?

Existing safely taken images can help an initial discussion, but access, materials, and site conditions may require assessment before a scope or quotation can be confirmed.

Is the same method used in every room?

No. The deposit, substrate, existing damage, and trial results guide the method. A dry-first approach is used only where suitable for the material and residue.

Can repair work and cleaning be combined in one assumption?

No. The quotation needs to distinguish cleaning from repairs and specialist tasks. Work outside the accepted scope requires separate quotation and confirmation.

What does handover confirm?

It concerns the agreed cleaning work and its limitations. It does not establish safety, occupation fitness, regulatory approval, or insurance cover.
